I write today with an announcement that has been several years in the making but will likely be news for you.
I wanted to let you know that I am planning to retire by the end of 2023. I actually began contemplating retirement early in 2020 but then our community faced several crises – the pandemic, the resulting economic fallout, and Hurricane Ian – that made it impossible for me to consider stepping away, given the overwhelming need.
The time is finally right for me and the organization. We have a strong and passionate board and leadership team, and a progressive new strategic plan that charts our course to the future. Financially, I am pleased to report that the food bank is the strongest it has ever been.
The succession process has been well-planned and past board chair Ben Hanan is spearheading the search committee. I’ll remain CEO during the search and transition, and will consult as needed. I can affirm with full confidence that the new CEO will be stepping into a compassionate, resilient, adaptable organization that is poised to play an even more significant role – locally, statewide and nationally – in ending hunger.
I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to work with you and grateful for everything you do for the food bank and the people we serve.
As always, please feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions or would like more information.
