State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) leadership has invited select SCF Foundation donors and elected officials to attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Science and Technology Building at SCF Venice on Tuesday, November 29 at 10 a.m. Media are welcome to attend. The event will feature a short speaking program followed by ceremonial shoveling, after which interviews can be conducted. The Science and Technology Building will be the first new construction at SCF Venice since 1995. The 8,913-square-foot structure will feature new classrooms, laboratory space, faculty offices, and collaborative areas for students. Upgrading and expanding resources for students studying for careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) is important for preparing graduates to succeed in the modern workforce. Legislative appropriations exceeding $4 million and community donations are funding the project, which will total more than $5 million to complete.
