Who doesn’t dream of a White Christmas every now and then?  With the help of our friends at Admiral Travel, we found some stunning winter wonderland travel destinations that are unique and brrr-tiful. So dust off your parka and furry boots. What are you waiting for?

Ice Hotel | Jukkasjävi, Sweden

Every November through early December since 1989, the empty space on the riverbank of Torne River in Jukkasjävi turns into a magnificent hotel made of ice and snow. Guests from all over the world can enjoy one of 15-20 standard ice rooms or one of 12 art suites uniquely designed and hand-carved for the very first time. Other attractions and activities that await are an art exhibition featuring hand-carved ice sculptures, a unique five-course menu in the on-site restaurant highlighting Scandinavian delicacies, and last but certainly not least, the famous Ice Bar, where your drink is served in you guessed it – a “glass” made of ice. How cool is that?

Arctic Treehouse | Rovaniemi, Finland

Looking for a unique experience that offers a blend of luxury, coziness, and panoramic views of the Northern Lights and Midnight Sun? Look no further than Arctic Treehouse Hotel in Finland. Accommodations include Glass Treehouses that come with their own private saunas and Executive Suites that sit on a steep wooded hill slope. Ahhhh…..what says tranquility better than a 360 degree view of the quiet snow-capped forest from your private treehouse? The hotel also offers a variety of complimentary activities to try year-round, like biking and hiking in the summer and fall, and tobogganing, sledding, and snowshoeing in the winter and spring. While you’re there, be sure to visit Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, which is a short distance from the resort and open year-round! And don’t forget to make reservations at Rakas, the hotel’s restaurant and bar where the slogan is “local food made with love”. All meals are prepared using local ingredients with a modern twist. Try the reindeer tartar, and make sure you save room for dessert!

Silversea Cruises | Antarctica

Even just saying “Antarctica” sounds adventurous, doesn’t it? The quiet remoteness. The stunning beauty. The abundant wildlife. Miles and miles of snow and ice. And of course, the Drake Passage. Silversea offers polished luxury with a healthy does of comforting hospitality, whether you’re onboard or onshore. Book a guided Zodiac tour with a world-class expert, an adventurous expedition to explore the Earth’s last wilderness and enjoy award-winning luxury from stem to stern.
