Tidewell Foundation announced it has received a $40,000 grant from the McCune Family Foundation to support Tidewell’s Blue Butterfly program.
The grant supports Tidewell Hospice’s Blue Butterfly program, which is grief support designed for children and teens, ages 5 to 18, after the death of a special person in their life. This is an evidenced-based program that helps children and teens, and their caregivers, navigate their grief in a healthy way.
More than 8,000 children in the Sarasota area have lost a parent or sibling. Blue Butterfly offers children a safe place with mental health professionals to heal from their grief. Blue Butterfly is available to everyone in our community, even if they have not had a Tidewell Hospice experience. Blue Butterfly has four locations; Lakewood Ranch, Newtown, Ellenton, and Port Charlotte.
“We are so appreciative of the McCune Family Foundation’s continued support of Blue Butterfly,” said Debbie Mason, President of the Tidewell Foundation. “This generous grant allows us to continue this important program at no cost to participants.”
All of Tidewell’s Blue Butterfly grief groups are free of charge to participants thanks to generous support from donors to the Tidewell Foundation. To learn more about Tidewell’s Blue Butterfly Program or to make a donation, visit tidewellfoundation.org/impact-areas/
