Scene Snaps: Boomer Prom!
August 2022—This month, we asked readers of the boomer age bracket to dig out their prom photos. take a walk down memory lane and enjoy these nostalgic snapshots—big hair, ruffled shirts and all!
Dan Thomas and Armentia L. Wall attend Falls Church High School prom in1967, held at the Willard Hotel, Washington, DC. Three years following this photo, the couple was engaged. After finishing college, they married in June 1971.

Terry Kelly and Kelly Laviolette attend 1973 “Grad” in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The couple decorated a 1973 AMC Gremlin to the theme of the school’s mascot (The Lancers) for a car parade which would precede the dance—and won first prize! Terry and Kelly celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this past June. They are also the proud parents of Scene’s Creative Director Darcy Kelly-Laviolette.
Says Judy Eicher, “This photo was taken at my senior prom in 1970 at Susquehanna Valley High School in Conklin, NY. My date was Michael Maddi, who I married a few years later.” Judy and Michael are parents to Gina Liga, Scene’s Digital Media & Editorial Content Coordinator.
