April 8, 2022 – Sarasota
The Fourth Annual Chad Day Memorial Fishing Tournament will be held Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2022. Proceeds from the catch and release one-day fishing tournament will benefit the Tidewell Foundation, helping Tidewell Hospice provide care, comfort, and compassion to more than 10,000 patients and families each year in Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee and Sarasota counties..
The tournament is held in honor of Chad Day, a Bradenton resident who passed away while being cared for by Tidewell Hospice in 2015. Day’s favorite thing to do was fish. Last year the tournament raised $8,000 for the Tidewell Foundation.
“We are grateful to Joann Day for organizing this tournament in support of the Tidewell Foundation,” said Debbie Mason, President of the Tidewell Foundation. “Events like this make it possible for us to offer world-class comfort, care and compassion to those who need it the most in our region.”
The captain’s meeting is Saturday, April 9 at 3 p.m. Tournament participants may begin fishing immediately after the captain’s meeting and must have all pictures submitted by 2 p.m. Sunday April 10, 2022. The tournament will pay out a total of $6,000 in prize money. In each species, first place will claim $1,000, second $700 and third $300. This year’s tournament is sponsored by Tarpon Bay Grill & Tiki Bar.
