February 16, 2022 – Sarasota

Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding voters there is still time to request a vote-by-mail (absentee) ballot for the March 8 School District Referendum and County Charter Referendum.

Any registered voter may request a vote-by-mail ballot online at SarasotaVotes.gov/VotebyMail or by calling 941.861.8618. A request for a ballot to be mailed to a voter must be made no later than 5 p.m., Saturday, February 26.

“This deadline ensures enough time for the voter to receive and mark the vote-by-mail ballot and return it so that it reaches the elections office in time to be counted,” Turner said. “Voted ballots may be returned by mail or in person but must be received in the elections office by 7 p.m. election night to be counted.” The cost to return a ballot by mail for the March 8 referendums is one Forever stamp or $.58 postage.

Turner noted that ballots may also be returned to secure drop boxes located inside elections offices in Sarasota, Venice and North Port as follows:

· Now through Friday, Feb 25, weekdays only (M-F), 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
· Saturday, Feb 26 – Monday, Mar 7, daily, including weekends, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
· Tuesday, Mar 8 (election day) 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Elections offices are located at:
Terrace Bldg., 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota 34237
R.L. Anderson Bldg., 4000 Tamiami Trail S., Rm. 114, Venice 34293
Biscayne Plaza, 13640 Tamiami Trail, North Port 34287

A secure vote-by-mail drop box will be available also in the North Sarasota Library early voting location (2801 Newtown Blvd.) during early voting dates/times (Saturday, Feb 26 – Sunday, Mar 6, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily).
