Susan Wilson has developed a perfect blend of work, community engagement, and recreation in her life. 

As Senior Vice President, Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley, Wilson has numerous clients who have been with her for many years and each year new clients seek her out. She is notably on the Forbes 2020/2021 List of Top Women Wealth Advisors.

Since 2020, Wilson’s job has expanded. She now works with a larger team, called the Cornerstone Capital Group at Morgan Stanley. “It means we have more resources to bring to our clients,” says Wilson. “My partner, Financial Advisor Tom Bardwell, and I run the Sarasota branch of that group.”

Wilson takes great pride in treating her customers—new and old—like family. 

Wilson began her financial career in 1981 in Dallas. In 1983 she moved to Manhattan, where she lived for 30 years. Now Wilson and her husband, Charlie, live on Bird Key and are very engaged in the Sarasota community. 

“We’re very involved with the Van Wezel Foundation,” says Wilson. “I served on the Gala Committee there for a number of years and my husband is now on the Foundation Board.”   

The bulk of Wilson’s volunteering time goes to the Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center. “I serve on their annual Gala Auction Committee,” says Wilson, “which is the major fundraiser for that organization. I’ve been on that committee for the last six years which represents a lot of gratifying work.  Our goal for this year’s Gala is to raise $300,000 to serve the victims of domestic and sexual abuse in our community.” 

Wilson and her husband are also great supporters of the arts and regularly sponsor graduate students at the Asolo Repertory Theatre.  

When she is not working or helping causes in Sarasota, Wilson enjoys traveling, playing golf locally and internationally, and caring for her Toy Aussie Shepherd, “Storm.”
