Making Strides Against Breast Cancer on Longboat Key

By  |

September 1, 2021 – Sarasota

The Paradise Center, a nonprofit devoted to health and wellness via programming designed for the demographic of its island, is hosting a “satellite” walk on Longboat Key, Saturday, October 16, 2021. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

“We feel it is more COVID-cautious to host a walk simultaneously on Longboat Key – rather than attending the main event at Nathan Benderson Park. And it also provides an opportunity for breast cancer survivors and cure supporters in our community to come together closer to home,” said Suzy Brenner, Executive Director of The Paradise Center.

The captain of the TPC team, the “LBK Paradise Striders” is Liz Yerkes with Longboat Massage who will be offering free table massages to breast cancer survivors after the walk ($1/minute for others). Team members are invited to walk, jog or stride the approximately 3-mile Longboat Key Loop which begins at The Paradise Center (546 Bay Isles Rd., LBK) and continues through the Longboat Key Club Harbourside Golf Course starting at 9:30am. Water, sponsored by Total Air Solutions, will be available along the route.

Before and after the walk, there will be wellness-oriented vendors in the parking lot at TPC offering healthy drinks and snacks. Sponsors to date include The Thirsty Snail, Nature’s Gem, Luminary Dermatology, Total Air Solutions and Design 2000. Volunteers are needed. For sponsorship and volunteer information, contact Suzy Brenner at 941-383-6493.
