Sarasota Film Festival Proudly Unveils Its 23rd Anniversary Poster for 2021 Edition
April 5, 2021 – Sarasota
The Sarasota Film Festival today released the poster for the upcoming 23rd anniversary of the festival, April 30th – May 9th, launching the start of the 2021 edition. The design was created by artist Vince Fraser. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will be a hybrid event featuring in-person, public outdoor events as well as virtual programming, which was well-received by audiences locally and nationally for the 2021 festival.
Vince Fraser is a London based visual artist and designer. Fraser sees himself as a new breed of artist in the digital age – combining a variety of skills including film and motion. Through his work, Fraser seeks to inspire, educate and empower positive images reflecting today’s culture. He has previously done work for Nike, Adobe, MTV, among others.
This year’s poster explores the chaos and uncertainty happening in the world with the look of all the elements appearing to fly outward from the mind of the poster’s central figure. With this poster, Fraser sought to capture that sometimes something very beautiful and positive can appear out of things that sometimes seem bleak. The poster also seeks to showcase the “unstoppable cadence of film” and it’s ability to continue to uplift audiences even in times as difficult as the past year.
“It’s all about going with the flow of life and learning to let go and adapt to things spontaneously changing. Rolling with the punches and accepting change without getting frustrated or angry with everyday challenges. Life isn’t static, but more like a flow of change, a sequence of sounds dancing inside in the head. There is beauty in everything around us, if we look at it as perfect,” said Fraser, “ I’m hoping my work will inspire and empower a whole generation of filmmakers not scared to express themselves through their art form. Let your one personal vision dictate your professional path – never be afraid to try new things.”
“Over the past year, we have not only seen our daily lives change dramatically, but the film industry as well. We’re working, interacting with our friends and family, and watching movies differently. However the one thing that has not changed is the way in which film has been able to offer an escape for many of us from a tumultuous time,” said Chairman and Co-Founder of the Festival Mark Famiglio. “This year the SFF poster represents the way the art of film can bring joy and adventure during some of the bleakest times. It also underscores our excitement to welcome folks back to the movie going experience – even if it may look a little different than before.”
The festival is a staple in Sarasota and the film community, drawing over 50,000 patrons, who gather to celebrate the best in cinema. Over the last two decades, the festival has screened groundbreaking films, documentaries and shorts that deliver key messages to audiences, as well as engaging them in conversations with actors, filmmakers and industry professionals.
The 23rd Annual Sarasota Film Festival will take place April 30th – May 9th, 2021. More details surrounding this year’s festival will be announced in the coming weeks. For more detailed information or for tickets please visit: http://www.sarasotafilmfestival.com.
