The Venice Symphony is thrilled to announce its return to live performance, with the second annual Patriotic Pops Concert, followed by a fireworks display, May 29 at 7:30 pm, at CoolToday Park in North Port, the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves. The Community Foundation of Sarasota County is once again presenting sponsor and the event is paid for in part by the Sarasota County Tourist Development Tax. Gates open at 5:30 pm, rain date is May 30.

Music Director/Conductor Troy Quinn will lead the orchestra in this outdoor concert that will include classic American music from John Philip Sousa to John Williams, an Armed Forces Medley and a tribute to veterans. Sergeant First Class Randall Wight, a member of the U.S. Army Field Band, will return as guest vocalist. He has performed the National Anthem at Camden Yards in Baltimore and composed the theme song for the Army Birthday Ball in Washington, DC.  “I can think of no better way to honor our heroes on the front lines of both the medical and military community than a Patriotic celebration on Memorial Day weekend,” said Quinn. “We have endured so much heartache this year as a community and a country, and I believe music is a healing part of the process as we move forward.”

“Everyone at The Venice Symphony is looking forward to being back at CoolToday Park in front of a live audience,” said Christine Kasten, President/CEO of the Symphony. “Our first concert and collaboration in 2019 was a great success and we know that the administration and staff of CoolToday are dedicated to the health and safety of their guests. We are grateful for the continued support of our presenting sponsor, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County.”

CoolToday Park opened in 2019 in West Villages, (now Wellen Park). In addition to serving as the spring training home of the Atlanta Braves, CoolToday hosts special events including a year-round concert series, the Braves farmers market, Jingle Jam and many more. “We are honored to host the Venice Symphony here at CoolToday Park. The Symphony put on a great show back in 2019 and we look forward to host another great show,” said Mike Dunn, Vice President of Florida Operations.

“Especially after a year marked by unexpected intermissions, we’re proud once again to partner with The Venice Symphony in bringing our community together at the beautiful CoolToday Park for a celebration of patriotic classics and the Symphony’s indomitable spirit and commitment to its mission,” said Roxie Jerde, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. “As music reveals to us, our greatest masterpiece remains our resiliency and capacity to start anew and persevere, whatever the crisis. Thanks to The Venice Symphony, we can continue to enjoy and reimagine that masterpiece, together.”
