IMPACT100 SRQ to Announce Total Number of Grants to be Awarded to Local Nonprofits for Their 2021 Giving Year

February 17, 2021 – Sarasota

Be sure to mark your calendars for 5:30pm on March 9th when Impact100 SRQ will make the highly anticipated announcement to the media and to the public regarding the total members joining their mission and the number of grants they will be awarding to local nonprofit organizations in Sarasota and Manatee Counties for their 2021 Giving Year. In just their first two years, Impact100 SRQ members have awarded nearly $600,000 in transformational grants. In 2019, they were able to fund two $114,000 grants: one to Mother’s Helping Mothers who used the funding toward the purchase of the building that they’d been renting for so many years. By eliminating the expense from their budget, they can now focus more on expanding their services and helping more families. The second grant recipient, The Haven, used their grant to expand their preschool building, adding two new classrooms and a new therapy room, while doubling their capacity to accommodate the needs of additional children and their families.

In 2020 momentum for Impact100 SRQ increased, the chapter’s membership grew, and they were able to help 3 local organizations: Mayors Feed the Hungry, Children’s Cancer Center, and the SKY Family YMCA. Each of these nonprofits were awarded grants of $114,000 for specific and sustainable initiatives that will have a positive and long-term impact for our communities. Mayors Feed the Hungry purchased a refrigerated truck enabling them for the first time in over 30 years of service to safely pick up and transport perishable donated food from partner restaurants and grocery stores and distribute to 24 agencies servicing the needs of our local underserved population. On the morning of January 30th, they partnered with Impact100 SRQ, The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, and the National PTSD Service Association to hold a community perishable food drive to “Fill the Truck” and collected over 2 tons of food.

The Children’s Cancer Center will now be able to offer the same family support programs they have had available in Tampa, to families in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Families will no longer have to travel to Tampa to participate in any of these programs. With easier access in our local community, more families will be able to use the Children’s Cancer Center services without the burdens of time and cost of transportation to and from Tampa.

The SKY Family YMCA is completing its Venice facility renovation of their old early learning center. This will create four new classrooms, as well as additional areas, and allow them to serve an additional 120 children daily in their Pre-K and VPK programs. The improvements will help the building become a safe place that increases the YMCA’s capacity to serve children in our community. “All of this would not be possible without the dedication and generosity of our members. Our goal is to continue to make a significant impact in Sarasota and Manatee Counties for years to come through the funding of grants and ongoing partnership with our nonprofit grant recipients to help them realize the big dreams of their missions,” said Jane Watt, President of Impact100 SRQ.

For nonprofits that want to apply for an Impact100 SRQ grant, the Eligibility Form required to start the application process will open on their website February 15th, and nonprofits have until April 14, 2021 to complete the form. The grant application will open March 10, 2021 and will remain available until April 28, 2021 at 12:00 PM.
