October 28, 2020 – Sarasota
The Community Foundation of Sarasota County has determined the area’s signature 24-hour giving day will be held in Spring 2022. The next Giving Challenge will be held from noon to noon on April 26 and 27, 2022. New details will be available in April 2021 to initiate a year of thoughtful preparation for this important charitable giving event.
“The outpouring of support for the 2020 Giving Challenge was simply phenomenal. The more than 106,700 gifts provided critical, unrestricted funding for so many causes that are fundamental to our area’s quality of life, especially facing the unknowns that the pandemic is still unearthing across our region,” says Roxie Jerde, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County “After receiving feedback from nonprofit and community partners, it was determined that next year is best focused on expanding longer-term recovery plans. The 2022 Giving Challenge will be here to ignite even more opportunities as we work together to build the community we all want to live in.”
Outperforming the previous six challenges, the 2020 Giving Challenge brought together nearly 59,000 donors to raise $19.1 million for 686 nonprofit organizations serving Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties. Since 2012, seven Giving Challenges hosted by the Community Foundation and strengthened by The Patterson Foundation have collectively provided more than $58 million in unrestricted funding for area nonprofits to respond to community needs with flexibility and innovation.
