Citizens Can Participate Remotely in October City Commission Meetings

With local governments in Florida authorized to continue hosting meetings via video technology through the end of this month, Sarasota citizens will be able to provide input remotely when the City Commission meets Oct. 5 and Oct. 19.

Those interested in participating must pre-register by emailing their request to the City Auditor and Clerk’s office (clerk@SarasotaFL.gov). Citizens will then receive a link to complete an online registration form, and once they are registered, they will receive further instructions and links from City staff on when and how to access the meeting online and participate.

Anyone who wishes to participate remotely in the next City Commission meeting, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, must register via email by 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.

Citizens can also submit written comments in advance of the meeting by emailing clerk@SarasotaFL.gov or by using an online form. Public input can also be provided in person during the meeting at a computer station set up and monitored by staff at City Hall.

Gov. Ron DeSantis this week issued an executive order extending the authorization for local governments to meet remotely using communications media technology through Nov. 1.
