The Florida Studio Theatre School is Now Enrolling For Both In-person and Online Adult Classes
(Sarasota, FL) –Florida Studio Theatre (FST) is pleased to announce that enrollment is now open for The FST School with both in-person and online theatre classes for students ages 18 and up starting the week of September 28. Led by FST’s team of Professional Resident Teaching Artists, core offerings include classes in acting, improvisation, playwriting, and theatre appreciation. These classes run for 8 weeks at a time and range from $149-199 per session. Scholarships are available based on financial need. This year, FST is also giving back to the community by offering scholarships to front line workers.

Over the past few months, FST School students have found online classes to be a convenient way to connect with the theatre they love from across the country — and even around the world. Since launching virtual class offerings in May, the FST School has welcomed students from as far as Mexico, California, and Connecticut. “As a New Yorker, I never thought this would be possible,” said Mikki, a student of FST’s popular Behind the Scenes class. “How wrong I was!”
Even for local students, The FST School has proven to be a much-needed creative outlet. “I almost didn’t sign up, as I feared my creativity had been buried under the weight of the present day,” said past student Kate H. “But I’m glad I did. I spent this morning writing, instead of being glued to the news cycle.”
“We are delighted to be offering both in-person and online classes this fall,” said Josh Ford, FST’s Director of Education. “Over the past few months, we’ve identified which classes work well online, and which ones really need to take place in person. We’re dedicated to offering online classes for those who are interested in expressing themselves creatively but may not feel safe coming to the theatre, or who live outside the area.”
On-site classes will meet on FST’s downtown Sarasota theatre campus in the same rehearsal studios and theatres used each year by FST’s company of professional actors. Online classes in playwriting, improvisation, solo performance, and script analysis enable students to connect creatively from the comfort and safety of home.
To ensure the safety of students and teaching artists, classes will operate in full compliance with CDC guidelines. Masks are required upon arrival at FST and while moving from between spaces at the theatre. With 16 classes beginning the week of September 28, The FST School offers something for students of all experience levels. Whether looking to build confidence, improve communication, or polish performance skills, FST invites students of all backgrounds to discover their artistic home with The Florida Studio Theatre School. Classes range from $149 – $199 and run for 8 weeks. Full and partial scholarships are available. A complete list of classes can be found at fstschooladults.floridastudiotheatre.org.
