Student-Led TEDxUSFSM Event is Looking for Speakers
If you or someone you know has a compelling story or idea to share, TEDxUSFSM might offer the perfect forum. The upcoming event, entitled “Investing in Our Future,” is designed to explore innovative ideas that can enrich the lives of audience members and the future of the Sarasota-Manatee region.
TEDxUSFSM is scheduled for Feb. 25, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., in the Selby Auditorium at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee campus, 8350 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
Dynamic and diverse speakers are urged to visit tedxusfsm.com by July 31 to apply to address the forum.
“Successfully planning for the future is a universal desire,” USF Sarasota-Manatee student and event planning team member Hannah Pogue said. “This year, we would like to showcase inspiring individuals within our community who wish to contribute to the betterment of our audience. In turn, we hope that audience members implement the strategies and ideas from the event within their own lives and the lives of those around them.”
TED is an organization devoted to spreading productive ideas in the form of concise, powerful lectures. A TEDx event is an independently organized version of those talks. According to TED guidelines, speakers are not permitted to promote businesses or endorse products during the talks. TEDxUSFSM is a student-led initiative sponsored by USF Sarasota-Manatee’s Student Government with support from faculty and staff. Last year’s TEDxUSFSM event, “Defining Your Legacy,” drew a capacity crowd.
