Women’s Resource Center Hosts Free Financial Sector Career Connections Webinar on July 15th

By  |

Company representatives from Bank of America and Merrill Lynch will provide information about career pathways and employee development programs.

As part of its monthly Career Connections program to link women to quality jobs and funded trainings, the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is partnering with Bank of America and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management to offer a free webinar about local career opportunities in the financial sector, including entry-level positions with starting wages of $20 an hour.

A college degree is not required for these jobs, though candidates must have strong customer service and Microsoft Office skills.  Representatives from Bank of America and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management will
explain career pathways and employee development programs offered at their locations in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties.

WRC is hosting this free informational webinar on Wednesday, July 15, noon-1 p.m. To register, go to mywrc.org/financialcareers or call (941) 256-9721. Free individual career coaching, via phone or computer video conferencing, is also available or visit mywrc.org.

The expansion of the local financial sector job market has led employers to offer competitive wages that reflect the region’s increased cost of living. “The yearly minimum rate of pay for a full-time Bank of America employee will increase to more than $41,000 a year,” explains Mike McCoy, the Sarasota/Manatee market president for Bank of America. “This does not include the value of our healthcare and wellness benefits, which are significant, additional components of the total rewards that all employees
receive.”

Career Connections are typically held as in-person events, but since the
pandemic, WRC has moved these information sessions to be webinar- based. An advantage to shifting to an online format is an expanded reach in the community. Its recent June webinar had over 60 registrants sign up to learn more about job opportunities in the area. WRC also offers free virtual one-on-one career coaching along with resume assistance.

“We are thrilled to be able to partner with Bank of America and appreciate
its commitment to invest philanthropically in the regional community through its generous grant giving, as well as providing quality jobs paying family-sustaining wages,” says WRC CEO Ashley Brown.
