“27th Annual Brunch on the Bay” Announces New Date and Title Sponsor

By  |

The University of South Florida is pleased to announce a new date for one of the region’s premiere events — the 27th Annual Brunch on the Bay at the Sarasota-Manatee campus on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021. Attendees will enjoy exquisite cuisine, wonderful fellowship with friends and have the opportunity to invest in the future of the community by supporting student scholarships.

“We are very excited to announce that USF Federal Credit Union will be the title sponsor of Brunch on the Bay for the next three years, and Elizabeth Moore has agreed to serve as chairperson of the 2021 event,” said USF Sarasota-Manatee Regional Chancellor Karen A. Holbrook. “We are so pleased to partner with an organization that consistently supports students and the communities in which they do business, and it’s an honor to have Elizabeth Moore leading our planning team.”

An investment in future leaders

The USF Federal Credit Union (FCU) is a non-profit, member-based financial institution that celebrated 60 years of serving USF faculty, staff and students in 2019. Based on the USF campus in Tampa, USF FCU has five locations in Florida and has funded scholarships for several years. Last year, USF FCU contributed $205,000 spread across the three USF campuses, with $50,000 supporting students at the Sarasota-Manatee campus.

“It is an honor and privilege to give back to the university through these scholarships,” said CEO and President Richard J. Skaggs. “After all, supporting the educational advancement of future leaders is one of the best investments we could make.”

Bill Steiger serves as the USF FCU brand strategy and communications manager and said, “We have a strong interest in supporting each of the USF campuses, and now that we have opened our brand new branch on Clark Road in Sarasota, it is a natural fit for us to host a prestigious event that supports the community.”

“As a credit union based on the USF Tampa campus, we are surrounded by students every day and we see the vast potential they hold,” Steiger said. “These students are important members of communities throughout Florida and the Sarasota-Manatee region and they will be the next leaders.”

Training students for professional success

Elizabeth Moore has clearly established herself as a prominent community leader since moving to the Suncoast from Massachusetts 12 years ago. As a philanthropist and environmentalist, she serves on several local boards, including Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium and the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. She immerses herself in supporting a variety of important local and global causes and has a special passion for the arts and culture and providing opportunities for others.

“I have attended Brunch on the Bay as a guest the past five years and loved it,” Moore said. “There’s a young, vibrant energy going on here. USF trains students to become outstanding professionals in our community and supports critical issues that impact our growth and future.”

Mary Kenealy Events partners with USF Sarasota-Manatee to orchestrate the annual, signature scholarship fundraiser. “Working with Mary Kenealy Events is wonderful,” said Lee Williams, USF Sarasota-Manatee Regional Vice Chancellor for Advancement and Alumni Relations. “Intuitively, the professionals at Mary Kenealy Events know what is required for a wildly successful occasion, and USF Sarasota-Manatee is thrilled to work with them on Brunch on the Bay.”

USF Sarasota-Manatee is also proud to partner with Palm Printing for our Brunch on the Bay printing needs.
