County Launches COVID-19 Text Alerts, Urges Social Distancing at Area Beaches

By  |

Sarasota County Government has launched an opt-in text alert system for the community to receive information about county updates related to COVID-19.

Those who wish to receive the alerts should text SRQCOVID19 to 888-777 to register.

In addition, Sarasota County is reminding the community to follow directions issued Tuesday by Governor Ron DeSantis to limit their gatherings to 10 people, and to distance themselves from other parties by six feet, while visiting county operated beaches.

In addition, beach visitors who feel sick should stay home. All residents and visitors are also reminded to continue following guidelines from the Florida Department of Health (DOH) and Centers for Disease Control.

Additional Sarasota County Government updates include:
All Sarasota County libraries will remain closed through April 12.
Libraries’ staff are establishing a curbside pick-up option for items placed on hold through the online catalogue.
The digital library is available for library cardholders to access books, magazines, movies, music and television programs. Those needing to register for a new card, or renew an existing library card, can do so by calling the Sarasota County Contact Center at 941-861-5000.
All indoor facilities operated by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources have been closed to the public.
