Women’s Resource Center’s Career Connections Program Offers A Free CNA Training Opportunities Session

As the demand for certified nurse assistants (CNA’s) soars across the region, the Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is partnering with local employers and technical schools to connect women to free CNA training programs and guaranteed jobs with starting wages in the $13 to $15 an hour range. As part of is part of its monthly Career Connections program, WRC is hosting a free information session, Wednesday, February 26, 1-3 p.m., at its Sarasota center, 340 S. Tuttle Avenue. Representatives from Suncoast Technical College, Manatee Technical College, Westminster Point Pleasant, and Tidewell Hospice will offer information about classes, scholarships. employment and other opportunities. Sarasota Memorial Hospital will share its “Earn While You Learn” model for employees to become CNA’s at the hospital. No registration is required. “The Women’s Resource Center continues to develop programs and services that offer women support during times of transition, including college and career journeys,” explains Lori Gentile, WRC’s director of client services. “Our new Career Connections program offers monthly sessions for women to learn about quality job openings and funded trainings in the area. It’s already becoming a go-to event for women who are looking for career opportunities.”

Scott Kennedy, STC’s program manager for health and public services, says the need for career opportunity events like this is vital.

“Through partnerships like this, we can address the critical shortage of nurse assistants in our community by closing the skills gaps that exist in our workforce and putting people first through continued educational pathways.”
