A grant of $2,750 recently awarded by the Arthur T. Esslinger Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, allows JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation will be able to provide transportation assistance to individuals who are prohibited from driving due to seizures through a collaborative partnership with ITN Suncoast to ensure that these individuals can attend the monthly Epilepsy Support Group.
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that will impact 1 in 26 people during their lifetime. Seizures are unpredictable and directly impact the health and safety of the individual. Epilepsy also has a significant stigma that oftentimes results in social isolation. “Thanks to this community impact grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, JoshProvides will be able to offer individuals the opportunity to participate in our monthly Epilepsy Support Group, thereby maintaining a community connection and combatting social isolation,” stated Andria Bilan, CEO.
“Addressing emerging needs and opportunities is central to our Community Impact Grant program,” says Abigail Oakes, Director of Community Impact at the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. “We are proud to partner with organizations like JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation that enhance lives and create meaningful connections across generations. Collaborative initiatives like this help ensure that every one of us can feel like we belong in our shared community.”
