The Sarasota Farmers Market will be relocating vendors presently now on 1st Street to south Lemon and State Street. With The Mark construction and the bricking of south Lemon near completion, this will enhance the quality of the market for generations to come. This Saturday, October 26, will be the market’s first day back on south Lemon.
“It’s exciting to move back to south Lemon and State Street. It’s a little premature, but we want to help out the merchants in that area that have had a long road during construction. The market was created in 1979 by Paul Thorpe (Mr. Downtown) to generate foot traffic,” said Executive Director, Phil Pagano. “Customers will enjoy a new layout that will include Worden’s Farm being in their old spot of 15 years on Lemon from Main Street south to the alley past Boca restaurant. Brown’s Grove will also be on Lemon at the south end. Special thanks to SCAT and the city of Sarasota for assisting in the bus turnaround over the last year. The market staff should also be commended for all the hard work putting out generators each week and a lot more logistic work it took during the relocation.”
