Lynn Tosi, a veteran school counselor and teacher in the Sarasota County Schools district, has joined the Education Foundation of Sarasota County (EFSC) as college and career advisor at the EFSC’s new Student Success Center at Sarasota High School (SHS).
Jennifer Vigne, EFSC president, announced that Tosi’s position was effective at the start of the school year when the new on-campus center opened in partnership with Sarasota High School.
The new SHS central resource hub, dedicated to providing college, career and life readiness support, is the district’s third EFSC-staffed Student Success Center after North Port and Riverview high schools hosted successful pilot centers last school year.
Established through a partnership with Sarasota County Schools, the centers represent a shared commitment to support the foundation’s College, Career and Life Readiness (CCLR) Initiative, which focuses on enhancing postsecondary advising to prepare students for success after high school graduation.
At the new SHS center, Tosi will assist students and families in exploring college, technical school and career opportunities; completing college admissions and financial aid applications; and preparing for the SAT/ACT, among other services.
“Lynn’s 20-plus years of teaching and counseling at college, high school and middle school levels give her valuable background to be effective immediately in this important role centered on partnering with the school to help students prepare for postsecondary success,” Vigne said.
Tosi most recently was senior counselor at North Port High School (NPHS), a position that provided her with firsthand opportunity to witness results of students engaging with and utilizing tools and resources at the NPHS Student Success Center.
Tosi has a master’s in school guidance and counseling from University of Dayton, Ohio, and a bachelor’s in education from Otterbein College, Westerville, Ohio.
